So recently, I've been looking into Google Adsense to monetize my youtube videos. Little did I know that I would stumble across so much trouble.
First, it is very inconvenient that youtube accounts and google accounts are permanently linked (that is, youtube accounts made after 2009). This is very annoying, as my youtube account is associated with a yahoo mail, and I also have a gmail account as well. Whenever I log out of the gmail and log back in, I am logged into youtube with that gmail as well. Very annoying, and there seems to be no way to separate the two, since my youtube account was made after 2009.
Now, the monetization with Google Adsense is very irking as well. My sole (intended) source of monetization is my youtube account, but when I applied for an Adsense account, it seems that the URL I provided for monetization was for blogger, even though I did not choose this. I never saw this option when I was filling out my application. Maybe I just overlooked this section, but now when I try to change the URL, Adsense will not let me change it. The problem with my blogger was that IT NO LONGER EXISTED. I used blogger for school purposes, but when the year finished, I stopped using it, and now adsense wants me to verify a domain that no longer exists. Very irritating. Moreover, because my youtube account is permanently associated with my yahoomail, there was no way I could change the URL on adsense so that my youtube account would be the one for inspection. I also can't put my youtube account under a different email and resubmit an application because the youtube account was made after 2009.
So now, I'm doing the only thing possible to get my Adsense application accepted and link Adsense to my youtube account. Since my youtube account is connected to my yahoomail, I copied the blogger URL and made a new blog with that yahoomail... which then, explains the purpose of this blog.
Hopefully this blog will generate enough traffic so that I can resubmit my Adsense application and it will be accepted. And once it is accepted, I can add my youtube channel's URL to Adsense and everything should work out.
I'm still very peeved that Google has made things so complicated though. I hope things change so that this doesn't happen to many others. If some of you are stuck in the same situation, I hope this helps you to some and any extent.
